I've been playing around with IA Writer all night and it's beautiful! The people at IA really know how to create an interface for designers. Does the minimalism improve writing? Who knows, but I'll be finding that out very soon.
IA Writer for Mac defines simplicity; something that every user interface needs but most fail to achieve. It removes the need for a mouse, the UI chrome, even the typeface options. The intro video takes a jab at Microsoft Word which is unsurprising, though slightly off colour.
I'm not afraid to admit I got suckered into a product designed for designers – god knows how many posters and prints I have still tubed in my cupboard – but I think I'll be giving this one a strong trial run, I think I enjoy it very much.
