Fascinating! I'm a big Origami fan (I'm not too shabby at it either). I've never really looked into how designs are engineered until now. It's amazing to me just how much the techniques can do from theory alone. Perhaps the creativity in pattern design is lost to perfected algorithms, but the skill in hand-folding remains the biggest challenge and achievement for enthusiasts. The fact that these ideas have moved into real-world applications is amazing.
