Microsoft iPod

An oldy (3 years) but still hilariously relevant. The tongue-in-cheek pokes firmly at Microsoft redesigning iPod packaging. The music is so devilish. I might design to it all the time.

Packaging UQAM

Sylvain Allard (Professeur at the University of Quebec) brings us a blog chock full of wonderfully creative packaging. It's modern and the sort of stuff I wish I'd see on the shelf more often. The blog is written in both French and English.

Interactive Art with Wooden Mirrors

A video camera captures an image and physically renders it using angled reflective wood blocks that act as pixels. The video explains it better. It's cool.

Design Council Slide Collection

An excellent source of British design through the decades. "The Design Council Slide Collection has its origins in the Photographic Library set up by the Council of Industrial Design (CoID) in 1945. The CoID had been established by the British government the previous year "to promote by all practicable means the improvement of design in the products of British industry", and to this end it sought to foster a critical awareness of design among manufacturers, retailers and consumers."

Nazario Graziano

There is a really nice fusion of retro aesthetics and contemporary illustration in Nazario Graziano's work.

Movie Posters for Minimalists

"This is my not too serious minimalist poster series for cult films. The vague rules were a circle, lowercase text and one or two images (not from the film) that relate to something in the film (which will not probably make sense unless you've seen the film!)"

Wonder Wall

This is why I love Flash. This site pushes the creative bounds of interactivity and is still incredibly easy to navigate. The project loading effect is just sheer class with its colourful gradients and 3d cube. Flash often gets a bad rep because of the abominations bad designers produce. It's nice to see a well made flash website at least once a year. Wonder Wall is a Japanese interior/product design film.

Font Squirrel

Font Squirrel is an excellent source of free fonts. And when they say free, they actually mean free - with no legal issues for commercial-use. Most font licenses are iffy and out-dated in regards to usage, especially on the web. No longer do you have to lay awake at night worrying if the feds are about to bust you for questionable font usage. "We know how hard it is to find quality freeware that is licensed for commercial work. We've done the hard work, hand-selecting these typefaces and presenting them in an easy-to-use format."

The History and Evolution of Social Media

"Social Media" is latest and hottest buzzword in modern marketing and I doubt most clients and even more marketers understand what they're talking about. This article is a good timeline of the phenomenon.
